Rage Against The Machine used their music as a vehicle for their political message. Because of this, and the political actions of the individual members, the band is associated with the anti-capitalist movement. The band split in 2001 when Zack De La Rocha, vocalist, left. The other members, Tom Morello (guitars), Timmy C (bass) and Brad Wilks (drums) went on together to work with ex-Soundgarden frontman, Chris Cornell, a project which they called Civilian.
