Campo de Mayo is a large military area located in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina around 30 km from the autonomous city of Buenos Aires.
Campo de Mayo covers an area of 8,000 Ha and is one of the most important military bases in Argentina. Between 1976 and 1982 during the Dirty war there were several secret detention centres on the base. The most notorious were "El Campito" and the "Hospital Militar" where newborn babies were confiscated from "dissidents" by the regime.
